I love still life drawings of fruits and vegetables. Thank you for this tutorial. I am mainly using 6B and 9B pencils plus an ebony pencil. I also used "Distress ink" to create the shadow under the plate. That seemed to work. I only have a 4B charcoal pencil; I did use it to some extent.

Sorry if my English isn't great, I follow you from Italy and I think your teachings are excellent. I love drawing and learning new techniques. I follow you with great interest.

I take about a week to finish a painting. There is always too many things I want to paint. I make thumbnail studies of things that interest me with whatever is left on my pallette. They usually take about an hour. It's helping me with value of a color and techniques. I learn best by doing. I can watch a technique over and over but it doesn't help as much as 'just do it.' charcoal is easier than watercolor when you're away from home. I have a space set up at home where all things watercolor is kept. While I see fascinating things to buy, I don't because I'm limited by the size of the space. It's one of my happy spaces.😊❤

I bought the brushes on line. The calligraphy brush didn’t look like the one Mr Chen uses even when new. The hair fell out so much I had hair everywhere. I guess I was too hard on it or something but not happy with my purchase. Love the vids however and thank you.

Thank you. Your painting style was very insightful. I've been trying to learn to use watercolor paint for many, many years. Somehow I've obviously collected some very weird rules. I like your initial method of drawing using only a small amount of pencil lines. I also liked how you lightly used your brush to make small marks to position things I really loved the masking technique and structure of the wave. Your method on each section while working from light to dark was excellent too. I loved your greys with so much muted colors they are fantastic. Using raw white from the tube really helped the painting a lot too. The whole painting was like an orchestra. From tuning up to the finale. Each part was very important and everything came together in a great symphony. It taught me I need to use what the painting needs rather than obeying lots of rules that don't work for me and the paintings that I work on. Thank you again.
